Challenge goes Renteria's way vs. Rockies

CHICAGO -- Manager Rick Renteria challenged a play at first base in the fifth inning of Monday's series opener when the Rockies' Charlie Culberson was called safe, and got it overturned.

The Rockies trailed, 2-0, with two outs in the fifth and a runner at second. Culberson hit a grounder to third baseman Emilio Bonifacio, who threw to first baseman Anthony Rizzo. Culberson was called safe by first-base umpire Phil Cuzzi, but catcher John Baker signaled to the Chicago bench, and Renteria came out and asked for a review.

After a review, Culberson was ruled out.

It was the 35th challenge by the Cubs this season, and the 16th one that they won.
