Anderson excited for former 'mate Reed in WS

PHOENIX -- D-backs right-hander Chase Anderson was driving to get some eggs the other day when he heard Mets reliever Addison Reed being interviewed on the radio.

Reed began the 2015 season with Arizona before being traded to New York in August.

"It's well-deserved for him," Anderson said of Reed's success with the Mets. "I know it's been a crazy year for him, so this is good to see."

Anderson will be watching each game of the 111th World Series not just because of his former teammate, but because that is something he's done for years.

It was a tradition that started with his late father, Robert.

"Probably since I was 10 or 12 years old, my dad and I would watch all the World Series games every year," Anderson said. "He was a really big baseball fan. His granddad was a huge Cardinals fan growing up, so I've always kind of liked the Cardinals just because the family liked them going back pretty far."

Anderson has made 48 starts for the D-backs over the past two seasons, compiling a 15-13 record with a 4.18 ERA.

Pitching in a World Series has always been a dream for Anderson, one he thinks about while watching the Fall Classic.

"I try to envision myself out there on the mound in those special situations and try to soak it all in," Anderson said. "I watched [Jacob] deGrom be just absolutely straight filthy during the playoffs, and then you have [Noah] Syndergaard. All those guys are homegrown. I'm kind of rooting for the Mets because they are in the National League and because of Addison."
