Cubs raising funds to help tornado victims

The Cubs will raise money during Tuesday night's game against the Reds to benefit those affected by the tornadoes that hit Fairdale and Rochelle, Ill., last week.

Staff members will collect donations at the Wrigley Field gates before the 7:05 p.m. CT game to benefit the Illinois Tornado Relief Effort, which supports nonprofit agencies providing disaster relief and recovery efforts to communities hit by such natural disasters.

The proceeds from the night's 50/50 Raffle will also benefit the same cause.

The Illinois Tornado Relief Effort is a campaign of the McCormick Foundation, which will match the first $500,000 raised by the organization at 50 cents on the dollar.
