Vote Reds for 2015 Esurance MLB Awards

CINCINNATI -- Joey Votto, Todd Frazier and Brandon Phillips are Reds players that were named as nominees for the Esurance MLB Awards. Broadcasting icon Marty Brennaman also received a nomination.

Votto received nods in two categories. The first baseman is up for the categories of best Major League player and also best everyday player.

In 158 games this season, Votto batted .314/.459/.541 with 29 home runs, 80 RBIs and a league-leading 143 walks. It was a strong turnaround season for Votto, who was limited to 62 games in 2014 because of left knee and quadriceps injuries and had career-low production.

Frazier is a best moment nominee for his unforgettable show to win the 2015 Home Run Derby in front of his home crowd at Great American Ball Park. In the first year with timed rounds and a bracket format, Frazier showed a flair for the dramatic, tying Joc Pederson in the final round with roughly 10 seconds remaining before he launched the Derby-deciding homer on his first swing of bonus time.

Phillips was nominated in the best performance and best defensive play categories.

In a July 30 game against the Pirates at Great American Ball Park, the second baseman became the first player in Major League history to produce four hits, two home runs, seven RBIs and two steals in one game.

For the best play on defense, Phillips' top highlight came on June 5 against the Padres. He made a backhanded stop on a grounder up the middle before a behind-the-back flip to shortstop Zack Cozart, who completed the 4-6-3 double play.

Phillips was also involved in one of the nominated top radio calls of the year when Brennaman was behind the mic on June 25 at Pittsburgh. Phillips started another double play with a stop of the ball while sliding on his knees before he executed a behind-the-back flip to shortstop Eugenio Suarez, who fired to first base for the double play.
