The Reds' No. 13 prospect had his scoreless innings streak snapped at 31 on Friday, but Class A Advanced Bakersfield hung on to beat Modesto, 8-4.

Lively allowed two runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings, his longest start of the season. He struck out eight batters and walked one.

Lively had been perhaps the Minor Leagues' best pitcher in the first month of the season. He allowed one run in 29 innings in five April starts. He posted a 40-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a 0.31 ERA.

While his first start in May wasn't quite as spectacular, he still leads the California League with a 0.76 ERA and a 0.59 WHIP.
