Kershaw headed to Chattanooga for rehab start

MINNEAPOLIS -- Clayton Kershaw will make his second rehab start on Wednesday, for Double-A Chattanooga, the club announced Monday.

Kershaw made his first rehab start Friday night for Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga, allowing one run in five innings, and throwing 56 pitches.

He lobbied to be activated after that start, but management chose to allow the ace to continue rebuilding arm strength without the added intensity of a Major League game.

Kershaw has been on the disabled list with a strained teres major muscle in his upper back since the day after winning his Opening Night start in Australia on March 22.

Barring a setback, Kershaw figures to return to the Dodgers' rotation Monday night in Washington.
