Reed continues to dominate for Blue Wahoos

Reds No. 9 prospect throws eight scoreless for Double-A Pensacola

Cody Reed is making a strong impression on his new organization.

Acquired from the Royals at the Trade Deadline in the Johnny Cueto deal, the Reds' No. 9 prospect fired eight scoreless innings on Monday as Double-A Pensacola defeated Jackson, 1-0.

The 22-year-old left-hander allowed four hits and struck out eight in the outing, throwing 65 of 96 pitches for strikes. It was the second time in his last seven starts in which Reed has thrown eight scoreless innings for Pensacola, and he's also struck out at least eight batters on four separate occasions in that span.

Since joining the Reds organization, Reed is 5-2 with a 2.47 ERA and 51/15 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 43 2/3 innings (seven starts). The 2013 second-rounder has spent the second half of the season at the Double-A level, where he's pitched to a 7-4 record, 2.86 ERA and 70/23 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 72 1/3 innings between Pensacola and Northwest Arkansas.
