Arenado extends hit streak to 24 games with double

DENVER -- Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado extended his hit streak to 24 games -- second-longest in club history -- with a fourth-inning double off the Mets' Dillon Gee on Sunday.

The hit, into the left-field corner, came at a time the Rockies needed a spark. It was just the third hit off Gee, whose pitching was one reason the Mets had a 4-0 lead. It was the eighth double of Arenado's run.

Arenado entered the game tied with Dante Bichette's streak in 1999. The only longer streak in Rockies history was Michael Cuddyer's 27-gamer last season.
