Moving around lineup doesn't affect Arenado

LOS ANGELES -- Often a manager doesn't want to go away from what works, but Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has hit no matter where he has been placed in the lineup.

Sunday against Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu, manager Walt Weiss went away from the recent strategy of batting the right-handed-hitting Arenado second behind Charlie Blackmon. Instead, right-handed-hitting Brandon Barnes hit second. Arenado batted sixth, behind Troy Tulowtizki and Justin Morneau. With catcher Wilin Rosario not in the lineup Sunday, there was a little less protection behind the key hitters.

Arenado began hitting second toward the end of the Rockies' homestand, after regular No. 2 hitter Michael Cuddyer went to the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring injury. But Arenado was hitting well before then. He carried a 16-game hit streak into Sunday.

"With Barnsie, we were trying to get another table-setter that can run up in front of the middle of our lineup," Weiss said. "It's just mixing it up a little bit.

"Nolan has hit in a bunch of different spots in the lineup. It's not too big of a deal."
