Come see the Future of Canadian Baseball!

The Blue Jays Baseball Academy, in collaboration with Blue Jays Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar will host the inaugural Tournament 12, a national baseball showcase tournament at Rogers Centre, September 20-24.

Tournament 12, presented by New Era, will highlight the best Canadian amateur baseball players with college eligibility. Ten teams will represent the Canadian provinces (three teams from Ontario, two teams from Quebec and one each from British Columbia, Alberta and Atlantic Canada, as well as a combined team from Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and a Futures Team made up of players from all provinces).

This tournament is the first of its kind designed to showcase Canadian baseball talent to professional scouts and to schools across North America.

All players were selected by the Blue Jays Baseball Academy with assistance from the Blue Jays Scouting Department, Baseball Canada, and the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau. The tournament rosters will be announced on Friday, August 30. Canadian Jr. National Team members Gareth Morgan, Josh Naylor, and Demi Orimoloye have all confirmed their participation.

Roberto Alomar will act as the Tournament Commissioner and will receive assistance from his father Sandy Alomar Sr., along with former Blue Jays Duane Ward, and Lloyd Moseby. In addition, the ten teams will receive coaching from former Canadian National Team members Adam Stern, Mike Johnson, Hyung Cho, Nigel Wilson, Scott Thorman, Chris Begg, and Mike Lumley.

Each team will play a minimum of four games at Rogers Centre, with a Tournament Champion being awarded on Tuesday, September 24. All ten teams will also take part in a Workout Day on Friday September 20 at Rogers Centre where players will be evaluated on speed and throwing ability.

The 24 tournament games will be umpired by members of the Baseball Canada High Performance Program for Canadian Umpires.

Tickets are now on sale for Tournament 12, with daily passes starting at $17, and Tournament Passes priced at $37. Seating is general admission, and tickets are available for purchase at bluejays.com/t12, by calling the Blue Jays at 416-341-1234, or by visiting the Blue Jays Box Office at Rogers Centre located at Gate #9.

"It's an honour to be involved in a Canadian baseball tournament of this magnitude. This will have a major impact on the lives of these Canadian players and we hope to see many of these guys playing in the Major Leagues in the near future. This tournament reinforces the Blue Jays commitment to growing baseball across Canada and I am looking forward to seeing these talented ballplayers in action"- Alomar

Baseball scouts and college recruiters are encouraged to attend the event with the benefits of preferred seating along with a tournament scouting guide.
