Biggio Hall celebration highlights Astros' promotion schedule

50th anniversary of Astrodome, 10-year reunion of '05 team also to be featured

HOUSTON -- Craig Biggio's induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, the 10-year anniversary of the Astros' only World Series in 2005 and the 50th anniversary of the Astrodome highlight the 2015 promotions lineup released Tuesday.

Biggio, who last month became the first Astros player to be elected to the Hall of Fame, will be honored with three giveaways the weekend of July 31-Aug. 2, one week after he's inducted in Cooperstown, N.Y., with a Biggio Hall of Fame bobblehead (July 31), replica pinstripe jersey (Aug. 1) and Hall of Fame replica plaque (Aug. 2).

What's more, Biggio will be recognized on the field Aug. 22 in a pregame ceremony, and fans will receive a Biggio Hall of Fame T-shirt to commemorate the achievement.

Meanwhile, the Astros will hold a 50th Anniversary Weekend on April 17-18, with giveaways that include a Jimmy Wynn bobblehead and a 1965 replica model Astrodome, which opened 50 years ago. The franchise began in 1962 as the Colt .45s, but changed its name to the Astros when it moved to the Astrodome three years later.

The Astros will wear a patch on their uniform this season commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Astros name and the Astrodome.

The 2005 Astros will be reunited at Minute Maid Park on Aug. 14-15 as part of Astros Legends Weekend. Fans will receive a 2005 NLCS T-shirt (Aug. 14), and there's a Legends Luncheon and an on-field pregame ceremony with players from the 2005 team.

Other promotions include a Jose Altuve "hit counter" bobblehead (May 2), a Dallas Keuchel "Gold Glove" Gnome (May 16) and a George Springer replica jersey (May 30). There will also be a Nolan Ryan replica rainbow jersey giveaway on July 19.

Single-game tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. CT March 2. Season tickets, group tickets and suite rentals are now available. The Biggio HOF 7-Game Pack, starting at $120, and other tickets can be purchased by calling 1-877-9ASTROS or visiting www.astros.com/tickets.
