Craig rejoins Sox, ready for baseball activity

ANAHEIM -- Allen Craig rejoined his Red Sox teammates on Saturday at Angel Stadium, ready to get back to baseball activities.

After visiting Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C., for a second opinion on his sprained left foot, Craig got the green light to begin baseball activities.

"He'll start to swing a bat in the cage and on a tee," manager John Farrell said. "He'll start to go with less than full weight-bearing work on the treadmill to get a basic foundation before we get him to full activity on the field."

Since placing Craig on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, the Red Sox have been quite cautious. That's because it's the same foot he injured late last season, causing Craig to miss most of the playoffs while with St. Louis.

"It wasn't isolated to the ankle. Some of the foot was involved," Farrell said. "Yet, it wasn't further involved. Once things settle down even more, we'll ramp up his work."
