Chicago Cubs to host third annual Cubs Fantasy Camp at Wrigley Field June 17-18

Cubs fantasy camp participants will play games under the lights of Wrigley Field for the first time

A roster of enthusiastic Chicago Cubs fans will soon enjoy the ultimate two-day experience at Wrigley Field as part of the third annual Cubs Fantasy Camp. Participants will watch the Cubs host the Boston Red Sox from the all-inclusive Budweiser Bleacher Suite Sunday, June 17 (Father’s Day). The next day, campers will return to Wrigley Field to participate in a full day of hitting, catching and throwing during warm-up sessions and live baseball games at Wrigley Field. For the first time, Cubs Fantasy Camp participants will play under the lights for their own memorable night game.

“The Chicago Cubs Fantasy Camp gives some of our most loyal fans the chance to take batting practice off former Cubs like Jon Lieber and Steve Trout, listen to batting and fielding tips from Jose Cardenal and Jody Davis, and play baseball games on Wrigley Field as a Chicago Cub,” said Wally Hayward, executive vice president, chief sales and marketing officer of the Chicago Cubs. “These fans will also mingle with former All-Star Lee Smith and other Cubs alumni while watching one of the most popular games of the 2012 season from the all-inclusive Budweiser Bleacher Suite.”

A few roster spots remain available for the 2012 Fantasy Camp. Each roster spot includes hotel accommodations and transportation; a customized, authentic Cubs uniform; personalized warm-up gear; a one-day contract signed by Cubs baseball operations executives; photo and video keepsakes from the day; and autographs and photo opportunities with participating Cubs legends. A single roster spot is $4,500, while two or more roster spots may be purchased together at a discount by contacting the Cubs at 773-388-8270 or [email protected].

On Sunday, June 17, each camper and a guest will arrive early at Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs’ batting practice before their 7:05 p.m. game against the Red Sox. This group will then watch the game from the all-inclusive Budweiser Bleacher Suite, with several Cubs executives and Cubs alumni visiting the suite throughout the game. Guests will be transported back to their hotel following the game.

On Monday, June 18, campers will enjoy lunch in Wrigley Field’s United Club and sign a one-day contract with Cubs executives. They will then move to the visitor’s clubhouse to change into their personalized warm-up gear. After participating in a series of warm-up stations and drills led by Cubs legends on the field, each participant will experience what it feels like to suit up in a customized Chicago Cubs uniform inside the Cubs clubhouse. The group will take the field for a tournament on the diamond, including a championship round played under the lights at Wrigley Field for the first time at Cubs Fantasy Camp. A barbecue reception will be held on the field following the championship game where each camper will receive keepsakes from their two-day experience. Participants’ families are welcome at the ballpark to view the event.
