Cubs trade infielder Jeff Baker to Detroit for two players to be named

The Chicago Cubs today traded infielder Jeff Baker to the Detroit Tigers for two players to be named.

Baker, 31, batted .269 (36-for-134) with 10 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 20 RBI in 54 games for the Cubs this season.  He went 25-for-91 (.275) off left-handed pitching and 11-for-43 (.256) off right-handers this season.

Acquired by the Cubs from the Rockies on July 2, 2009, Baker batted .280 (208-for-744) with 50 doubles, 15 home runs and 85 RBI in 283 games with the Cubs during the last four seasons.
