D-backs acquire Haniger and Banda from Brewers for Parra

Haniger rated as Brewers' No. 3 prospect by Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) acquired outfielder Mitch Haniger (@M_Hanny19) and left-handed pitcher Anthony Banda (@anthony_banda3) from the Milwaukee Brewers for outfielder Gerardo Parra, as announced by D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Haniger, 23, entered the season rated as the Brewers' No. 3 prospect by Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus and No. 8 prospect by MLB.com. In 67 games for Double-A Huntsville this season, he hit .255 (62-for-243) with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 10 homers, 34 RBI and 41 runs scored.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder spent 3 seasons in the Brewers' farm system and batted .263 (201-for-765) with 47 doubles, 6 triples, 22 homers and 110 RBI in 210 games. Haniger, a member of the 2013 Arizona Fall League All-Prospect Team, was also rated by Baseball America as possessing the Best Outfield Arm in Milwaukee's organization in 2013-14. He was the Brewers' supplemental first-round pick (38th overall) in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Cal Poly.

Banda, 20 (turns 21 on August 10), appeared in 20 games (14 starts) for Single-A Wisconsin this season, going 6-6 with 2 saves and a 3.66 ERA (34 ER in 83.2 IP) with 83 strikeouts. He was 6-5 with a 3.93 ERA (29 ER in 66.1 IP) as a starter and he was 0-1 with 2 saves and a 2.60 ERA (5 ER in 17.1 IP) in relief.

In 3 seasons in Milwaukee's farm system, he was 11-13 with 2 saves and a 4.40 ERA (91 ER in 186.0 IP) in 48 games (32 starts). The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder was drafted by the Brewers in the 10th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of San Jacinto College.

Parra, 27, hit .259 (105-for-406) with 18 doubles, 3 triples, 6 homers and 30 RBI in 104 games for the D-backs in 2014. In 6 seasons with Arizona, he batted .274 (728-for-2,656) with 142 doubles, 31 triples, 39 home runs and 250 RBI. He was a two-time NL Rawlings® Gold Glove Award recipient in 2011 (as a left fielder) and 2013 (as a right fielder), as well as the 2013 NL Defensive Player of the Year.

The D-backs 40-man roster is at 36.
