D-backs acquire RHP Sam McWilliams from Phillies for RHP Jeremy Hellickson

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) have acquired right-handed pitcher Sam McWilliams (@SamMcWilliams3) from the Philadelphia Phillies for right-handed pitcher Jeremy Hellickson, as announced by D-backs Sr. Vice President & General Manager Dave Stewart.

"Sam follows along the lines of what we've been doing for the last year, acquiring young power arms," said Stewart. "He's a high school draft pick that put up good numbers in the Gulf Coast League. He'll be a great addition to our organization."

McWilliams, 20, was rated by MLB.com as the 28th-best prospect in the Phillies' organization after making 7 starts in 2015 with the Rookie GCL Phillies, going 0-2 with a 3.27 ERA (12 ER in 33.0 IP). The 6-foot-7, 190-pounder was selected in the eighth round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Beech High School in Hendersonville, Tenn.

Hellickson, 28, went 9-12 with a 4.62 ERA (75 ER in 146.0 IP) in 27 starts in his lone season with Arizona in 2015.
