D-backs announce 2014 Spanish radio broadcast schedule

New "Cronista Infantil" program, presented by Sanderson Ford, allows youngsters to serve as a guest during the broadcast

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks have announced their 2014 Spanish radio broadcast schedule, which includes all 162 regular season games and two Spring Training games on KSUN La Mejor 1400 AM.

The first Spring Training game to be broadcasted in Spanish will be March 9 when the D-backs host the San Diego Padres at 1:10PM. It will be the first radio broadcast with former D-backs pitcher Rodrigo Lopez serving as the Spanish-language broadcast analyst. Lopez will join Oscar Soria, who returns for his 16th full season as the play-by-play voice on D-backs Spanish-language broadcasts. Richard Saenz also returns for his 12th season in the D-backs' radio booth, working as a fill-in color analyst.

Lopez, Soria and Saenz will travel to Australia in March to broadcast both games held in Sydney, Australia live in Spanish on KSUN La Mejor 1400 AM and the D-backs Spanish Radio Network. The D-backs Spanish Radio Network consists of seven stations in Sonora, Mexico and Tucson. All seven stations will carry each D-backs weekend games for a total of 52 games on each station, including two games in Sydney, Australia.

New in 2014, the D-backs will choose six kids to be a part of the Sanderson Ford Cronista Infantil, in which once a month throughout the season one lucky kid (ages 8-12) will be a guest on the D-backs' Spanish-language radio broadcast alongside Lopez and Soria.
