D-backs award Cron & Huang with monthly honors for June

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) named Single-A Advanced Visalia infielder Kevin Cron (@TcuCron00) and Single-A Kane County right-handed pitcher Wei-Chieh Huang (pronounced: Way-Jay Wang) the organization's Minor League Player- and Pitcher-of-the-Month for June.

Cron, 22, reached base via hit or walk in 20 of 25 games in June, and hit .291 (30-for-103) with 11 doubles, 7 home runs, 23 RBI, a .330 on-base and .602 slugging percentages and a .932 OPS.

∙ Ranked among all full-season Minor Leaguers in June in extra-base hits (4th, 18) and doubles (T-6th, 11).

∙ From June 14-20, he hit safely in 7 straight games, batting .469 (15-for-32) with 7 doubles, 2 home runs and 12 RBI.

∙ In 10 home games, he hit .366 (15-for-41) with 4 doubles, 4 homers and 13 RBI.

∙ Ranked among all Single-A and Single-A Advanced hitters in doubles (1st, 11), extra-base hits (1st, 18), home runs (T-4th, 7), RBI (5th, 23) and slugging percentage (9th, .602).

Huang, 21, went 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA (11 R-6 ER in 24.0 IP), .217 opponent average (20-for-92), 4 walks and 23 strikeouts in 4 starts in June.

∙ Held opponents to 1 run or less in 3 starts, going 1-0 with a 0.95 ERA (2 ER in 19.0 IP) in those outings.

∙ In 2 home games, was 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA (1 ER in 13.0 IP), .167 average (8-for-48), 1 walk and 14 strikeouts.

∙ Recorded a professional-high 8.0 innings on June 18 vs. Wisconsin, allowing 1 run on 2 hits with no walks and 8 strikeouts.

∙ Selected to play with the World Team in the 2015 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati on July 12. He is the only player representing Taiwan on the roster.
