D-backs place Mark Trumbo on 15-day DL; recall Roger Kieschnick from Triple-A

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) placed outfielder Mark Trumbo on the 15-day disabled list (retro to April 22) with a stress fracture in his left foot and recalled outfielder Roger Kieschnick from Triple-A Reno, according to D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Trumbo, 28, is tied for the NL lead with 7 home runs and ranks second with 19 RBI at the time of the transaction. His 7 home runs are a career high for March/April and are the most by a D-back since Chris Young in 2011.

Trumbo, who was acquired as part of a 3-team trade with the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels on Dec. 10, is a .248 career hitter (446-for-1,799) with 83 doubles, 102 home runs and 303 RBI in 481 Major League games. His 102 home runs since 2011 are the third most in the Majors behind Miguel Cabrera (120) and Jose Bautista (104).

Kieschnick, 27, was batting .281 (18-for-64) with 5 doubles, 3 home runs and 8 RBI in 18 games with Reno this season. He was claimed by Arizona off waivers from the San Francisco Giants on April 4.

The Dallas native appeared in 38 games with the Giants in 2013 and hit .202 (17-for-84) with 1 triple and 5 RBI. He also batted .273 (102-for-374) with 27 doubles, 9 triples, 13 home runs and 56 RBI in 101 games with Triple-A Fresno.

Kieschnick, who will wear No. 27, was originally drafted by San Francisco in the third round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.
