D-backs reinstate Pacheco from 15-day disabled list, place Evans on unconditional release waivers

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) reinstated infielder/catcher Jordan Pacheco (@JstyleP) from the 15-day disabled list (right shoulder tendinitis) and placed infielder/outfielder Nick Evans on unconditional release waivers, as announced by D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Pacheco, 28, batted .269 (7-for-26) with a double, 6 RBI and 2 stolen bases in 8 rehab games (4 at second base and designated hitter and 1 at catcher) between Triple-A Reno and the AZL D-backs from July 14-26. Most recently, he went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and 2 runs scored on July 26 vs. Albuquerque.

Pacheco is hitting .375 (3-for-8) with a double and 2 runs scored in 8 games for the D-backs since being claimed off waivers from the Rockies on June 12. In 30 games this season between the Rockies and D-backs, he is batting .250 (20-for-80) with 7 doubles and 8 RBI.

Evans, 28, hit .273 (6-for-22) with 2 doubles, 2 home runs and 7 RBI in 17 games for the D-backs. In 12 pinch-hit appearances, he hit .417 (5-for-12) with 2 doubles and 6 RBI, including his second career pinch-hit home run on July 26 vs. Phillies. The Phoenix native was the eighth Arizona-born player to appear for the D-backs.

Evans, in 51 games with Reno this season, hit .354 (70-for-198) with 18 doubles, 11 home runs, 47 RBI and 42 runs scored. He was signed by the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on March 28, 2013.

The D-backs' 40-man roster is now at 37.
