Peralta out of lineup day after taking pitch to head
D-backs outfielder says he feels good after 'scary moment'
PHOENIX -- D-backs outfielder David Peralta said he feels "100 percent" on Thursday, a day after he took a fastball to his head from Marlins starter Jose Fernandez.
Peralta left Wednesday's game in the sixth inning when he took a pitch to the side of the head. He passed all of the concussion tests, but was not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers.
However, Peralta said he is available to play and D-backs manager Chip Hale said he had wanted to get Peralta a day off now that fourth outfielder Ender Inciarte has returned from the disabled list.
"I'm just going to take it a little bit easy today, I'll be ready for anything if they need me for the game," Peralta said. "I feel pretty good. That was a scary moment for me, for everybody, but I'm just glad nothing bad happened."
Peralta was adamant that he felt there was no intent on Fernandez's part. He said he received a text message from Marlins infielder Martin Prado, Peralta's former D-backs teammate, after the game on Wednesday night that Fernandez felt bad about the pitch and hadn't directed it at Peralta's head.

Worth noting
• Before Wednesday's game, D-backs catcher Welington Castillo was scratched from the lineup due to left hamstring tightness. Castillo pinch-hit in the ninth inning and singled, but was pulled for a pinch runner.
Castillo was out of Thursday's lineup for an extra day of rest to alleviate the issue, but said he expected to be fine to return to the lineup on Friday.
"Just going to take another day off just to prevent something to let it go worse," Castillo said. "I feel way better than yesterday."
• The D-backs recalled starter Zack Godley from Double-A Mobile to pitch against the Brewers on Thursday.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the D-backs moved injured outfielder Phil Gosselin from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL.
The D-backs optioned reliever Matt Stites to Triple-A Reno to make room for Godley on the 25-man roster. Stites has pitched in four games for the D-backs this season, giving up one run over 2 1/3 innings.
