Decker singles, walks in Triple-A All-Star Game

Federowicz homers in rehab start with Class A Fort Wayne

Cody Decker had a single and a walk Wednesday night in the Triple-A All-Star Game in Omaha, Neb.

Decker started as the designated hitter for the Pacific Coast League and hit fifth. The International League won, 4-3.

Decker was only the second player in El Paso Chihuahuas history to play in the game. Infielder Jonathan Galvez was 1-for-2 with a RBI last year.

In other news from the farm system Wednesday night:

• Tim Federowicz was 2-for-4 with a two run homer in his third rehab game with low Single-A Fort Wayne. The catcher, who has made two of his three starts as the designated hitter, is hitting .273.

• Left fielder Yeison Asencio was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Double-A San Antonio. Asencio, 25,is 4-for-7 with two homers and eight RBIs in his last two games to raise his season average to .290 and his RBI total to 40. He had a career-high six RBIs on a grand slam and two-run homer Monday.

• Left-handed starting pitcher Thomas Dorminy allowed six hits and a walk with three strikeouts over six scoreless innings for Fort Wayne as he improved to 7-6 and lowered his earned run average under four to 3.90. Dorminy, 23, the Padres' 10th-round pick in the 2014 draft, is 2-0 with a 2.38 ERA over his last four starts and 4-3 with a 3.15 ERA over his last 10 starts.

• Left-handed pitcher Kyle McGrath was returned to Fort Wayne from San Antonio.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (45-45): The Chihuahuas are off for the Triple-A All-Star break.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (39-50): MIDLAND 6, Missions 4 -- RF Hunter Renfroe (.262) backed Asencio, going 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored. CF Alberth Martinez (.265) was 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Starting RHP Bryan Rodriguez (4-11, 4.73 ERA) allowed five runs on eight hits with a walk and three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. RHP Stephen Kohlscheen (2.86) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning.

HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (35-53): Visalia 6, STORM 4 (13 innings) - Starting RHP Matthew Shepherd (5.20 ERA) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts in six innings. RHP Eric Yardley (3.26) allowed a hit with a strikeout in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. RHP Jason Jester (4.63) allowed a hit and two walks with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings. RHP Bryan Verbitzky (1-2, 8.53) gave up two runs on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts in two innings. CF Auston Bousfield (.288) was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. 1B Ricardo Valenzuela (.261) was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. 3B Gabriel Quintana (.245) was 2-for-6 with a double and two runs scored.

LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (45-43): TIN CAPS 4, Lake County 1 - RHP Aaron Cressley (8.03) followed Dorminy and allowed an unearned run on three hits in two innings. RHP Colby Blueberg, the Padres 24th-round pick in 2014, allowed a hit with a strikeout in a scoreless inning to lower his ERA to 1.04 while getting his 14th save. 2B-SS Luis Urias, 18, was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored while raising his average to .472. RF Franmil Reyes (.240) was 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk and two runs scored. C Jose Ruiz (.199) was 2-for-4.

SHORT-SEASON SINGLE-A TRI-CITY (15-12): Dust Devils 8, Spokane 4 - CF Rod Boykin (.222) was 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and two steals for four runs scored. SS Peter Van Gansen (.311) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. LF Jose Carlos Urena (.302) was 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and a sacrifice fly for three RBIs. C Austin Allen (.219) had a double in five at-bats for three RBIs. Starting LHP Jose Castillo (2.89 ERA) allowed a run on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings. LHP Elvin Liriano (2-0, 1.20) allowed a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in 2 1/3 scoreless innings. RHP Luis Hernandez (4.97) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (8-12): Reds 4, PADRES 1 - RF Jhonatan Pena (.269) was 1-for-3 with a double. Starting RHP Joel Linares (1-1, 4.18 ERA) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings. LHP Will Headean (4.91) allowed a run on five hits with three strikeouts in two innings.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (16-24): REDS 9, Padres 1 - 3B Manuel Vizcaino (.196) was 3-for-3 with a RBI. RF Jaffe Garcia (.196) was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Starting LHP Cristian Machuca (1-1, 2.78 ERA) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts in four innings. RHP Wilmer Torres (0.00) allowed a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings.
