DeShields holds no grudges with new teammate Klein

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields said he is "cool" with pitcher Phil Klein. They are teammates now and DeShields is not holding any grudges over what happened last April.

Klein was pitching for Double-A Frisco on April 18 against Corpus Christi when he hit DeShields in the left cheekbone with a fastball. DeShields suffered a concussion and a fractured cheekbone, forcing him to the disabled list for 18 days. The two have talked and there are no hard feelings.

"We've got the potential to be teammates so let's squash it right now," DeShields said.

"Obviously it wasn't anything I was trying to do," Klein said. "I just felt terrible. It's not something you want to see."

The count was 0-2. DeShields said he was looking for a slider and instead Klein threw a fastball that sailed up and in.

"It was like a bowling ball," DeShields said. "At first I couldn't feel anything. I was on the ground and I was looking for my teeth. They were all there but I was spitting out blood. The next day my face really swelled up."
