Devers, Margot selected for Futures Game

Third baseman Boston's No. 4 prospect; outfielder recently promoted

BOSTON -- The Red Sox are sending a pair of their best prospects to this year's SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, Major League Baseball announced on Thursday. The exhibition, set for July 12 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, pits American-born players against their international peers and features some of the best Minor League talent baseball has to offer.

Class A Greenville third baseman Rafael Devers and Double-A Portland outfielder Manuel Margot will represent the Sox on the World Team roster, which includes prospects from seven countries and territories. Both Devers and Margot are natives of the Dominican Republic.

Devers -- the organization's No. 4 prospect and the No. 80 prospect in the game, according to -- was one of eight Greenville players to make the South Atlantic League All-Star Game this season. The talented 18-year-old has hit .305 with five home runs and a .451 slugging percentage in 58 games this season.

Margot, a speedy center fielder ranked as Boston's fifth-best prospect and the No. 83 prospect in baseball, recently earned a promotion to Portland after batting .282 and stealing 20 bases in 46 games with Class A Advanced Salem.

In addition, Triple-A Pawtucket hitting coach Rich Gedman will fulfill the same capacity for the U.S. team's coaching staff.

The 17th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game takes place at 3 p.m. ET on July 12, and it can be seen live on MLB Network and, with Matt Vasgersian, Dan Plesac, Heidi Watney and Jonathan Mayo on the call. In addition, SiriusXM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio (XM channel 89; Sirius channel 209). will also provide complete coverage before, during and after the game.
