Figgins continues rehab; no timetable for return

ST. LOUIS -- Chone Figgins has been sidelined for more than a month with a strained left quad muscle, but there remains no exact timetable for his return to the Dodgers.

Figgins injured his quad muscle June 13 when he felt a pop as he ran down the first-base line on a sacrifice bunt. He returned to action Thursday when he began a rehab stint at Triple-A Albuquerque.

"He hadn't played in a while, so he's going to play a little bit, get some [at-bats] to make sure he's ready," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly. "We'll kind of evaluate him every little section of time."

Figgins, who was batting .217 with a .373 on-base percentage in 38 games, has gone 1-for-4 with three walks in his first two rehab games, playing at both second and third base.

"I know he's going to play some at third, some at second, some in the outfield," Mattingly said. "Then we'll kind of get through that round and see where we're at."
