Hernandez to undergo surgery on shoulder

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers utiltyman Kiké Hernandez will undergo what the club calls "minor right-shoulder surgery" on Wednesday.

Dr. Neal ElAttrache will perform the surgery in Los Angeles. More information will be available following the surgery, according to the club.

The rookie, acquired from Miami in last winter's Dee Gordon trade, hit .307 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs in 76 games, inheriting the starting center-field job from a slumping Joc Pederson in August, only to miss most of September with a strained left hamstring.

He led the Major Leagues against left-handed pitching with a .423 batting average and 1.215 OPS, but hit .234 with a .593 OPS against right-handed pitching.
