Dodgers option Arruebarrena, recall Rojas

DENVER -- The Dodgers optioned Cuban shortstop Erisbel Arruebarrena to Triple-A Albuquerque and recalled infielder Miguel Rojas from Albuquerque on Friday.

To make room for Rojas on the 40-man roster, reliever Chris Withrow was moved to the 60-day disabled list. Withrow underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow this week.

This is the first trip to the Major Leagues for Rojas, a 25-year-old defensive specialist.

Arruebarrena, signed during Spring Training, was promoted from Albuquerque when third baseman Juan Uribe was injured, but Arruebarrena was used primarily to back up veteran Hanley Ramirez. Arruebarrena, known for his glove, went 4-for-13 (.308).

Most of those at-bats came when he filled in after Ramirez strained his left calf, but with Ramirez back in the lineup, club officials want Arruebarrena to be playing regularly, not sitting.
