Dodgers host Holiday Party for local children

LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation hosted more than 300 pre-selected schoolchildren from the community at the annual Children's Holiday Party at Dodger Stadium on Friday.

Current Dodgers Hyun-Jin Ryu and Justin Turner took time out from their rehabs from surgeries to join former Dodgers Matt Luke, Tim Leary, Kenny Landreaux and Dennis Powell in autograph signings and photo opportunities.

The event included a mini-luge run set up in the parking lot, with snow provided by Arctic Glacier Ice. Levy Restaurants provided lunch, children received a new pair of Skechers shoes and Mattel Children's Foundation donated toys.

The participating neighborhood schools were Clifford Street Elementary School, Logan Span School, Sunrise Elementary School, Florence Griffith Joyner Elementary School, Grape Street Elementary School, Florence Nightingale Middle School, Thomas Starr King Middle School and Irving Middle School. Ann Street Elementary School and Soto Elementary School were not able to attend the event, which was rescheduled from an earlier date.
