Dodgers take on Phillies in a four-game series tomorrow through Thursday

LOS ANGELES - The Dodgers' second homestand of the 2014 season continues with a four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies tomorrow, Monday April 21 (LHP Cliff Lee vs. LHP Paul Maholm), Tuesday, April 22 (RHP A.J. Burnett vs. LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu), Wednesday, April 23 (LHP Cole Hamels vs. RHP Zack Greinke) and Thursday, April 24 (RHP Kyle Kendrick vs. RHP Dan Haren). Each game of this series takes place at 7:10 p.m. All auto gates Monday through Thursday open at 4:30 p.m. and all stadium gates open at 5:00 p.m.

 

The Dodgers' auto gates are now open 2.5 hours before game time and the stadium gates are open two hours before the scheduled first pitch. Fans taking advantage of this early arrival time can enjoy various family-friendly activities as soon as gates open throughout Dodger Stadium including in the newly enhanced right and left-field pavilion plazas which feature the Budweiser and Bud Light bullpen overlook bars and the new Tommy Lasorda Trattoria and the Think Blue BBQ. In the left and right-field pavilion plazas, there are also plenty of photo opportunities with Dodger memorabilia, including five-foot diameter World Series rings, an eight-foot replica of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, a life-size statue of the iconic Farmer John Dodger Dog, interactive replicas of the 76 ball and various bobbleheads. Autographs for fans with Dodger Alumni League members also take place before each game in the pavilion plaza areas. A DJ will also provide musical entertainment in the right-field pavilion plaza Monday through Thursday. On Tuesday and Thursday there will be face painters, caricature artist and a balloon maker in the right and left-field pavilion plazas.

 

For the series against Philadelphia, Levy Restaurants is offering a special extreme loaded dog, the Philly Dog, a Super Dodger Dog combined with Philly cheese steak meat, caramelized onions and melted cheese. Extreme loaded dog concession stands are located on the Field, Loge and Reserve levels.

 

Tomorrow, 2014 Sochi Olympics luger and La Cañada native Kate Hansen will throw the ceremonial first pitch and officially start the game with "It's Time for Dodger Baseball!" Hansen is also known for her Beyonce warm-up dance she used to prepare for her competition. Meredith, Chris and Cam Jobe, sons of the late pioneering medical surgeon Dr. Frank Jobe, will throw an honorary first pitch. The national anthem will be performed by David Larsen, who portrays Elder Price in the TONY Award winning musical "The Book of Mormon," now playing through May 11 at the Hollywood Pantages. Additionally, 34 actors from "The Book of Mormon" will lead the crowd in singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch.

 

Dodger Alumni Leaguer Mickey Hatcher will sign autographs in the left-field pavilion plaza and Alumni Leaguer Matt Luke will sign autographs in the right-field pavilion plaza from 5:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.

 

The Veteran of the Game presented by Bank of America is U.S. Army Specialist Cheyne Gomez of Hacienda Heights. Gomez enlisted in 2008 to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and is assigned to the 1908th Medical Detachment and was deployed to Iraq in 2009. Gomez's accolades include the Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

On Tuesday, the Dodgers take on the Phillies at 7:10 p.m. All auto gates open at 4:30 p.m. and all stadium gates open at 5:00 p.m. The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Fleece Blanket presented by 76. Dodger Alumni Leaguer Tim Leary will sign autographs in the right-field pavilion plaza and Alumni Leaguer Lee Lacy will sign autographs in the left-field pavilion plaza from 5:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. The national anthem will be performed by Los Angeles native Elliot Yamin of "American Idol" fame.

 

The Veteran of the Game presented by Bank of America is U.S. Army Specialist Candy Gamboa of Los Angeles. Gamboa enlisted in 2011 inspired by September 11 and serves with the HHC 508th Military Police Battalion. Gamboa is currently on a mid-deployment break from her assignment in Afghanistan. Her accolades include two Army Achievement Medals.

On Wednesday, the Dodgers take on the Phillies at 7:10 p.m. All auto gates open at 4:30 p.m. and all stadium gates open at 5:00 p.m. The Dodgers will host a USC and UCLA night. USC alumnus and Laker Nick Young and UCLA alumnus and Laker Jordan Farmar will throw the ceremonial first pitch and officially start the game with "It's Time for Dodger Baseball!" Capitol Records country recording artist Eric Paslay will perform the national anthem. Paslay's current single is "Friday Night" and he is a performer in the Stage Coach music festival on April 18.

 

Dodger Alumni Leaguer Ken McMullen will sign autographs in the left-field pavilion plaza and Alumni Leaguer Kenny Landreaux will sign autographs in the right-field pavilion plaza from 5:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.

 

The Veteran of the Game presented by Bank of America is U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Francisco Demara, Jr. of Victorville. Demara enlisted in 2010 and is assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms. Demara has served two combat tours to Helmand Province in Afghanistan, proudly displaying a Dodger banner on both deployments. His accolades include the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and the NATO Defense Medal.

The Dodgers' four-game series against Philadelphia concludes Thursday with a contest at 7:10 p.m. All auto gates open at 4:30 p.m. and all stadium gates open at 5:00 p.m. The first 50,000 fans in attendance will receive a Clayton Kershaw bobblehead presented by Time Warner Cable. Max Greenfield, star of "New Girl," will throw the ceremonial first pitch. "New Girl" is Kershaw's favorite TV show on which he made a cameo appearance for an episode that aired following this year's Super Bowl.

 

Dodger Alumni Leaguer Al Ferrara will sign autographs in the left-field pavilion plaza and Alumni Leaguer Billy Ashley will sign autographs in the right-field pavilion plaza from 5:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.

 

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) will hold a silent auction on the Club level by the Vin Scully Press Box. The auction ends at 8:45 p.m. with more than 25 items up for bid. All proceeds will benefit LADF and its programs in sports & recreation, education & literacy and health & wellness which help children and families throughout the greater Los Angeles region.

 

The Veteran of the Game presented by Bank of America is U.S. Marine Corps Captain Vic Sanceda of La Puente. Sanceda enlisted in 2005 and is responsible for source staffing requirements for units deploying overseas and is the Officer In Charge of personnel affairs for Division field exercises. His accolades include a Combat Action Ribbon and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
