O'Flaherty to begin Minor League rehab assignment

OAKLAND -- A's reliever Eric O'Flaherty, who has been sidelined by a strained left shoulder since the beginning of the month, was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday evening.

O'Flaherty was expected to pitch one inning for the Sounds, and it was unknown just how many Minor League outings he will need before being reinstated from the disabled list.

Come Thursday, right-hander A.J. Griffin (Tommy John surgery) will throw a two-inning simulated game at the Coliseum, while left-hander Drew Pomeranz (shoulder) will throw off the mound for the first time since hitting the DL.

In other injury news, first baseman Ike Davis (left quad) has been cleared to begin taking batting practice on the field with the club beginning Thursday. He's been out since May 14 and is expected to miss at least a month of games.
