Ethier sits with lingering sore left calf

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier sat out Tuesday night's 4-2 win against the Mets because of tightness in his left calf.

Ethier came to Dodger Stadium, but was bothered by the calf and was sent to be examined by head team physician Neal ElAttrache and Dr. John Itamura. He has been dealing with a calf issue since he was hit by a pitch against the Cubs on Aug. 4 in Chicago.

"I'm all right," Ethier said. "I'll see how it feels tomorrow. It was just getting more sore and was still bruised."

Mattingly said Ethier was not available to pinch-hit Tuesday.

Ethier has been the club's most durable outfielder this season, playing 114 games. He is third on the team with 41 RBIs.

Skip Schumaker started in center field and went 0-for-3 in place of Ethier.
