Ethier to host holiday shopping trip for LA children

LOS ANGELES – All-Star Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier will host a holiday shopping trip for Los Angeles children next week, the Dodgers announced today. Ten pre-selected children from local organizations will receive $500 to spend at Best Buy, courtesy of Ethier, and other gifts.

The shopping trip will take place this Tuesday, December 13 at 4:00 p.m. at the Best Buy in Burbank at 1501 N. Victory Place. Children participating will be from local organizations the Expo Center, Five Acres, Pacific Lodge Youth Center and Central City Action Committee.

This event will be the third holiday shopping trip Ethier has sponsored, as he has treated children from A Better L.A. and the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services to similar excursions in the past.

Just this year, Ethier has given his time to the community by volunteering at Union Rescue Mission downtown, visiting the 35th annual City of Hope Celebration of Life Bone Marrow Transplant Reunion and speaking at Dodgers Youth Baseball Camp twice.

In his time in Los Angeles, Ethier has also served food to the homeless at the Weingart Center on skid row, visited Union Rescue Mission numerous times, filmed an episode of “The Chef Jeff Project,” a television show that offers at-risk teens a chance to turn their lives around through culinary art, visited Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C, handed out turkeys to those in need during the Dodgers’ Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway and taken part annually in the Dodgers’ Community Caravan.
