• Since Luke Scott cut his hair into a "traditional '80s rat tail," he has hit safely in a career-high 12 straight games, the second-longest active streak heading into Sunday's action behind Cincinnati's Shin-Soo Choo (14). He is batting .386 (17-for-44) with three home runs and eight RBIs during the streak.

• Maddon commended Sean Rodriguez's play at first base. Rodriguez started at first on Saturday in place of Loney against the Blue Jays and made several scoops on throws skipped to him.

"He's playing with a lot of confidence over there and that gives the other players confidence in him, which is a good thing if we need to give James a day off."
