Fielder forces Washington to juggle lineup

ARLINGTON -- Manager Ron Washington wasn't planning on juggling his lineup but had to do so Saturday when Prince Fielder had to sit with stiffness in his neck. Fielder, who was been diagnosed with a herniated disk in his neck, is not expected to play Saturday or Sunday.

Shin-Soo Choo dropped from the leadoff spot to No. 3. It's the first time Choo has been out of the leadoff spot this season. Michael Choice batted leadoff with left-hander Mark Buehrle on the mound for the Blue Jays. The other option was to move Alex Rios in the No. 3 spot ahead of cleanup hitter Adrian Beltre, but Washington decided to leave him in the fifth spot.

"Alex doesn't look comfortable there, so I decided to go with Choo there," Washington said. "Put Michael Choice in the top and leave Rios where he is."

Choice has been used in the No. 1 spot when Choo was unavailable earlier this season with a sprained left ankle. He went into Saturday's game hitting .200 but with a .355 on-base percentage in the leadoff spot.
