Giants Minor Leaguers OK after Arizona car collision

Five farmhands released from Scottsdale hospital with minor injuries

Five Giants Minor Leaguers were briefly hospitalized for treatment in Scottsdale, Ariz., after sustaining mild injuries in a two-car traffic accident Tuesday morning.

A van carrying 11 Giants farmhands was taking them from a team hotel to a training facility when the crash occured at the intersection of Scottsdale and Chaparral roads.

The Giants released a statement revealing that the five players taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center were Bryce Bandilla, Adalberto Mejia, Dan Slania, Jeff Soptic and Kelby Tomlinson. All returned to the team hotel and were said to be resting comfortably by early afternoon.

Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reported that slugging outfielder Mac Williamson, one of the system's top prospects, was in the car but was uninjured.

The players recently began participating in a three-week conditioning camp at the Giants' training facility.
