Food Drive June 5-6 At Great American Ball Park

Fans Can Receive Free Ticket With Donations

CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Reds and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati are partnering to "Strike Out Hunger" locally by hosting a food donation drive when the Reds play the San Diego Padres on Friday, June 5 (7:10 p.m.) and Saturday, June 6 (4:10 p.m.) at Great American Ball Park.

Fans who donate a minimum of three non-perishable food items from the time gates open (90 minutes before first pitch) through the fifth inning will receive a free ticket to an upcoming Reds game, limit one ticket per person.

Donation barrels will be located at Gate B (Gapper's Alley) on the third base side of the ballpark.

"Our food pantries are busier than ever in the summer," said Kristen Klein, Director of Development of St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati. "During the summer months, kids are not in school to receive school lunches and families' grocery bills go up. For a family who is struggling, the extra costs of peanut butter, cereal, and lunch items can make them feel they have to choose between feeding their families and paying their rent. St. Vincent de Paul is here so they don't have to choose."

The 2014 Reds & SVDP drive collected over 27,000 pounds of food, allowing St. Vincent de Paul to provide food to thousands of families in need throughout Cincinnati.
