Former Giants star Clark to rep team at Draft
No. 2 overall pick in 1985 will be joined by senior advisor Siegle
SAN FRANCISCO -- Fittingly, one of the top Draft picks in Giants history will help represent the club at next month's Major League Baseball 2013 First-Year Player Draft.
Former first baseman Will Clark will be the Giants' standard-bearer at MLB Network's Studio 42 in Secaucus, N.J., where the Draft will be conducted June 6. Clark, who currently serves as a Giants community ambassador, will be joined by Tony Siegle, San Francisco's senior advisor of baseball operations.
The Giants made Clark the second choice overall out of Mississippi State University in the 1985 draft. He proceeded to make five All-Star teams in his eight years as a Giant while batting .299 with 176 home runs in 1,160 games for San Francisco.
Siegle has held front-office positions with eight different organizations spanning five decades and has worked for the Giants on three separate occasions. He works with general manager Brian Sabean and the baseball operations office in waiver and rules compliance, contract negotiations, salary arbitration issues and trade discussions.
The 2013 First-Year Player Draft will take place June 6-8, beginning with the Draft preview show on MLB.com and MLB Network on Thursday, June 6, at 3 p.m. PT. Live Draft coverage from MLB Network's Studio 42 begins at 4 p.m., with the top 73 picks being streamed on MLB.com and broadcast on MLB Network. Rounds 3-10 will be streamed live on MLB.com on June 7, beginning with a preview show at 9:30 a.m. PT, and Rounds 11-40 will be streamed live on MLB.com on June 8, starting at 10 a.m.
