Barreto's consistent bat pays off for Ports

Athletics No. 2 prospect goes 4-for-5 with his 9th home run of the season for Class A Advanced Stockton

Franklin Barreto was nearly perfect for the Ports during Class A Advanced Stockton's 7-2 win over Lake Elsinore on Monday night.

Oakland's No. 2 prospect (No. 68 overall) finished 4-for-5 with a double, two-run homer and three RBIs, continuing a hot streak. Barreto has hit in 11 straight games, boosting his average from .272 to .303 in that span. Monday marked his sixth multi-hit game in that same stretch.

Barreto, 19, has been one of Stockton's most consistent bats this season. He has 21 doubles and nine homers to go with 38 RBIs and has also added eight stolen bases. Signed out of Venezuela in 2012, he has improved his home run count in all three of his Minor League seasons.

The 5-foot-9 shortstop is batting 21-for-44 (.477) with three doubles, three homers and five RBIs during the 11-game hitting streak.

Athletics No. 9 prospect Raul Alcantara had his longest scoreless outing of the season for Stockton. The Dominican right-hander allowed two hits, no runs and struck out two hitters in four innings and has a 4.03 ERA in 18 1/3 innings this year.
