Garcia has issues with his changeup vs. Mets

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- On Friday afternoon, reliever Christian Garcia made his first appearance in a Nationals uniform since the 2012 National League Division Series against the Cardinals. He didn't appear in a Major League game last year because of various injuries.

Garcia, who said he wasn't nervous, entered the game in the fifth inning and allowed four runs in the Nationals' 5-4 win against the Mets. The biggest blow was a two-run homer by Ike Davis. Garcia had problems throwing his changeup.

"I just wanted to keep throwing it, keep working on it. Today just wasn't my day," Garcia said. "I knew what I was making a mistake on, so I was trying to make the adjustment, and I just didn't make it within the inning and it cost me."
