Gausman has strongest Triple-A start to date

BOSTON -- Orioles pitching prospect Kevin Gausman turned in his best outing of the season on Sunday afternoon despite picking up a no-decision in Triple-A Norfolk's 6-3 win over Durham.

The 23-year-old Gausman allowed four hits over five shutout innings, walking two and stiking out four. He threw 48 of his 74 pitches for strikes, lowering his ERA to 3.24 through four starts this season.

The five innings marked the longest outing of the season so far for Gausman, who dealt with a blister on his pitching hand in his last start.

"The last one was more blister than the one before that," manager Buck Showalter said of the report on Gausman's outing. "I think they are managing his innings a little bit."
