Gavin Floyd undergoes elbow surgery

ATLANTA - Atlanta Braves right-handed pitcher Gavin Floyd underwent season-ending surgery yesterday to repair a fractured olecranon in his right elbow. The operation was performed by Dr. David Altchek in in New York, N.Y.

The surgical procedure was the second for Floyd on his right elbow, as he underwent "Tommy John" surgery in May 2013, also performed by Dr. Altchek.

Floyd left his start on June 19th in the seventh inning (he threw one pitch in the seventh) at the Washington Nationals after suffering a fracture of the olecranon in his right elbow.

Floyd, 31, went 2-2 with a 2.65 ERA in nine games started for the Braves in 2014 after signing as a free agent on December 16th, 2013.
