Bochy learns more about new replay system

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Besides hearing about the implementation of the rule to protect catchers from undue harm, Giants manager Bruce Bochy received details about the replay system that baseball will adopt this season. Bochy and other Cactus League managers were briefed on both matters Monday by former managers Tony La Russa and Joe Torre, who work in operations for Major League Baseball.

Bochy had been concerned about whether he would receive sufficient opportunities to review questionable plays. But his fears were allayed in the meeting he attended with other Cactus League-based managers.

"I think the way it's set up is, you're going to have time to make your call," Bochy said. "We're going to have help. There's video for you to have available and they will call to let you know."
