Lincecum to make start after overcoming illness

PHOENIX -- Tim Lincecum quickly recovered from an upset stomach Wednesday and will make his scheduled start against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Thursday's series finale.

Lincecum said he began feeling queasy after the Giants took batting practice Tuesday. This prompted pitching coach Dave Righetti to tell listeners on KNBR, the club's flagship radio station, that Lincecum might have to be scratched against the D-backs.

But, munching on a cracker and sipping Pedialyte to replace lost fluids, the ever-resilient Lincecum declared that he felt healthy enough to pitch.

"It was pretty mild," he said of his illness.

Said manager Bruce Bochy, "Today he's bouncing around like nothing happened."

Actually, a lot has happened to Lincecum since he faced the A's in last Friday's Bay Bridge Series exhibition. His status for Thursday initially was tenuous due to a bruised left knee caused by Daric Barton's fourth-inning line drive. But Lincecum's lack of pain and ample range of motion made the bruise a non-issue.
