Abreu slated for rehab games at Triple-A

SAN FRANCISCO -- Tony Abreu is scheduled to start a rehab assignment Monday at Triple-A Fresno.

The infielder was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 29 because of left knee bursitis. He is eligible to be reinstated Tuesday.

"We'll keep an eye on him and we'll have him ready as soon as we think we need some help up here," manager Bruce Bochy said.

The switch-hitting Abreu appeared in 34 games through June and July and hit .266 in 79 at-bats.
