WASHINGTON -- The Braves will retire Chipper Jones' No. 10 in a pregame ceremony Friday, and you can expect there will be more than a few D-backs players on the top step of their dugout to watch.
They will be led by manager Kirk Gibson.
"He was a great player," Gibson said. "A sure Hall of Famer. I know the guys that played with him as a teammate were blessed to do so. It's kind of neat that when you're in an opponent's stadium and they do those things. I'm sure we'll be out there watching it, giving our respect to him. He played the game the right way, he represented his organization well, he was a champion."
All those pleasantries aside, don't think for a minute the D-backs want to see Jones back in uniform.
"I see he's enjoying retirement," Gibson said. "We like to see him retired. He had very good success against the Diamondbacks."
