Hamels throws 44 pitches in Minors game

ARLINGTON -- Phillies left-hander Cole Hamels started a Minor League intrasquad game Tuesday night in Clearwater, Fla.

He pitched three innings, allowing two hits, one run and two walks. He struck out three, and threw 44 pitches.

Hamels, who started the season on the DL because of inflammation in his left shoulder, hopes he needs just six starts before he can rejoin the Phillies' rotation. If he remains on his current schedule, he could return the final week of April.
