Hershiser throws first pitch before NLDS Game 5
Former Dodgers ace won NLCS Game 7 vs. Mets in 1988
LOS ANGELES -- Orel Hershiser, the former Dodgers ace who led the team to a World Series title in 1988, threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium on Thursday night before the Dodgers' 3-2 loss to the Mets in Game 5 of the National League Division Series.
Hershiser was on the mound against the Mets the last time Los Angeles had to play a winner-take-all postseason game. He beat New York in Game 7 of the 1988 NL Championship Series. Hershiser was named the 1988 NLCS MVP and the World Series MVP, in addition to winning the NL Cy Young Award.

Mickey Hatcher, one of Hershiser's teammates from the 1988 World Series championship team, caught the first pitch.
Anthony Anderson, star of the ABC television show, "Black-ish," announced the Dodgers' starting lineup. Actor Zachary Levi sang the national anthem.
