Hill likely out until Sunday with tight hamstring

PHOENIX -- D-backs second baseman Aaron Hill was removed from Friday night's 10-0 win over the Padres after two innings with right hamstring tightness.

Hill felt the hamstring stiffen up while scoring from second base in the first inning after he had doubled home a run. He notified the coaching staff but remained in the game. An inning later, Hill hit his second RBI double of the night to make the score 4-0, and D-backs manager Kirk Gibson said he saw the veteran "dragging his leg a little bit." Once the Padres retired the side, Gibson told Hill he was coming out.

Eric Chavez came off the bench to man third base, while Martin Prado shifted from third base to second.

"I could've finished the game, but I just took it easy," Hill said. "Not worth it today."

Although neither Hill nor Gibson seemed concerned about the injury, the skipper said after the game that the 31-year-old will be out of the lineup Saturday, a decision Hill plans to fight.

"That's debatable," he said. "I haven't got to argue my case yet."

If Gibson does win out and Hill doesn't play Saturday, he said he will most likely put him back in the lineup Sunday before the team has an off-day on Monday.
