Houston College Classic tickets on sale tomorrow at FanFest
Six Texas teams included in the Battle for Texas
For just the second time in tournament history and the first time since the inaugural tournament in 2001, the 2014 Houston College Classic will feature six teams, all hailing from the state of Texas. The Houston College Classic, which is regarded as one of the most competitive early-season college baseball tournaments in the country, will be held from Feb. 28-March 2 at Minute Maid Park. The 2014 tournament, which features six Texas teams, has been named the Battle for Texas.
Tomorrow, select student and adult daily tickets and three-day tournament passes will become available for purchase at Astros FanFest and online at www.Astros.com/CollegeClassic. Tickets can also be purchased at the Minute Maid Park Box Office (during regular business hours), by calling Ticketmaster at 1-877-9ASTROS, or by visiting any of the Astros regular Houston-area Ticketmaster outlets.
The six-team tournament, formerly known as the Astros Foundation College Classic, enters its 14th year at Minute Maid Park and will feature hometown schools Rice University and the University of Houston, who will be making their annual entry into the tournament. This year's field also includes Sam Houston State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech to round out the field in the Battle for Texas. Three of the teams in the tournament are ranked nationally among the top 30 in the 2014 preseason poll compiled by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, including Rice (#17), TCU (#19) and Texas (#20).
The 2014 tournament marks the sixth consecutive year that the Houston College Classic field has included at least three teams ranked nationally in the top 30 in preseason polls.
Adult tickets are available for a $15 daily admission, as well as a $36 three-day tournament pass. Tickets for high school and college students, with a valid student ID, and children (ages 4-14) are available for $10 daily and $24 for a tournament pass.
Season ticket holders (27-game packages and up) are offered a $10 daily ticket and a $24 tournament pass. The Insperity Club is available for group purchase for one or all games. Diamond Club tickets are available for purchase by calling 713-259-8333.
Select parking in the Astros controlled lots will be sold for $15 (Diamond Lot) and $10 (Lot A).
