Indians exercise the 2015 club option for INF Mike Aviles

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has exercised the 2015 club option for INF MIKE AVILES.

Aviles, 33, just completed his second season with Cleveland, hitting .247 (85-344) with 16 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs and 39 RBI in 113 games. He equaled his career-high and finished third on the club with 14 stolen bases and hit his first "walk-off" home run on August 15 vs. Baltimore. Over his 88 starts the club compiled a record of 48-40 (.545) as he started games at six different positions (28-3B; 28-2B; 16-LF; 11-SS; 2-RF; 1-CF). The New York, NY native was acquired by Cleveland from Toronto in November of 2012 with C Yan Gomes for RHP Esmil Rogers and was signed to a two-year deal with 2015 club option on February 7, 2013.
